BANGKOK – Leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations are likely to postpone their summit next month in Vietnam due to the COVID-19 outbreak, ASEAN diplomatic sources said Friday.

Vietnam, which this year holds the grouping’s rotating chairmanship, has proposed pushing the meeting back to June, according to the sources.

The country will officially inform the bloc’s members soon, the sources said.

However, another ASEAN source said that the summit will be held in April as scheduled but will be shortened along with the cancellation of related meetings.

ASEAN groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
